A trip to the Tambopata National Reserve is not to be missed, even if you don’t have much time, that’s why we have created this 3 Day Tambopata Tour where you will enjoy the best of the rainforest! You will be able to observe many different species of plants and animals, as well as enjoy our exciting jungle excursions.
This Tambopata Tour 3 Days includes a combination of travel in the middle of nature and wild combination of tropical forests, swamps, where it is not easy to find roads, but we can follow winding rivers all accompanied by an unforgiving jungle, where it was common to think that travelers only survived by the grace of God. But these days the department of Madre de Dios has become more accessible, but still retains its wild nature with the Tambopata Reserve and the impressive Sandoval Lake.
The Tambopata National Reserve consists of huge expanses of uninterrupted jungle that are protected in national parks, reserves and by several lodges that can be found in the Peruvian jungle.
This part of the Peruvian jungle is characterized by being sparsely inhabited and the lack of roads means that the natural areas of Madre de Dios remain untouched. However, a newly constructed highway connecting routes to the Pacific with routes to the Atlantic Ocean has brought more settlers to the region, along with associated deforestation, hunting and mining activities that could pose a threat to the forests of Madre de Dios.

Itinerary
Day 1:
Monkey Island – You will be picked up from Puerto Maldonado airport and travel by bus to the port. From here we will take a boat down the Madre de Dios River in order to reach our jungle lodge. During this trip you will see caimans, turtles, herons and other animals along the banks of the river. Once we arrive at the lodge, you will be welcomed with a delicious drink and after this, you will have time to settle into your bungalow and have lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit Monkey Island (5 minutes away from the lodge) with our local specialized guides. During your walk on the island, you will observe extraordinary landscapes and vegetation that harbors a great variety of monkeys in their natural habitat (e.g. the Black Spider Monkey, Capuchin Monkey, Tamarin Monkey, Squirrel Monkey and the South American Coati) as well as a large number of birds. You will stay to enjoy the sunset over the island and then return to the hotel for a nice dinner.
DAY 2:
Lost Cocha – After breakfast, you will begin your guided adventure through the virgin rainforest at the Lost Cocha (Lost Lake). This oxbow lake is a protected ecosystem that supports a variety of animals such as giant otters, caimans, turtles, Brazilian tapirs «sachavacas», colorful birds, piranhas, jaguars and other animals. This area is a unique part of the Ecoamazonia Reserve because immense swamps and marshes still remain intact today. Later, we will head to a magnificent lookout point – this is built on top of a very large tree (Shihuahuaco). From here you will have a panoramic view of the beauty of the jungle. Then go for a relaxing canoe ride on the lake and return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will have the unique experience of visiting a local jungle family by canoe. We will return to the lodge for dinner.
DAY 3:
Selvas Lodge – Puerto Maldonado – We will have breakfast and then travel by boat to Puerto Maldonado. From the port we will transfer to the airport.
